Pray For Me
“Pray for me” is what my 12 year old grandson Camilo told my daughter when all his resources were spent. His desire for getting into the charter school was very strong. There was nothing within his power that he could do to get in, since it is strictly a raffle system. Despite his age, he knew that the only thing left to do was to pray. I am impressed with his maturity. Deep inside his heart he knows that praying is to wish or hope strongly for a particular outcome or situation.
In the Hindu religion, they believe everything that happens in each life is perfect. They teach four laws of spirituality; 1) people who come into our lives are the right people for us, 2) even the smallest details in our lives are meant to be, 3) every moment begins in perfect timing, and 4) if something finishes it is supposed to be finished ! it is meant for our evolution. But we can probably leave our destiny to the universe, and the way I see it, the power of intention is the same as prayer. I am a very CONVENIENT believer…it depends on how it helps me cope with life. I can jump back and forth between different beliefs. I confess that my deepest moments of spirituality arise when I am going through the hardest times in my life. You can hear me all over the Plaza loud and clear saying “Oh my God, oh my God!!”
Camilo is praying for the school where he wants to go, and I am starting to pray for a successful event on March 19 at the store when we are introducing the two new designers from the Donald J Pliner Company. We will be their first personal appearance in the U.S. I have gone over my mental checklist… I have all the inventory that I need, the invitations have been sent, the social media and advertisements are in place, food and drinks have been ordered, champagne glasses are in place, my staff is ready, and I have chosen my new Donald Pliner shoes to wear! All that I have left to do is to pray. I do it every year for this event. And I deeply say, “Oh help me, God”. I have done everything that I can do to make it a success, including praying.
P.S. Camilo got in to the school of his choice! And I am here at the store waiting for all of you to enjoy this big event!
